Why this summit matters

Focus: Marine Conservation

The Philippines depends on healthy oceans for food security, livelihoods, biodiversity, and climate resilience. NEYLS convenes youth leaders to strengthen environmental literacy and drive action for ocean protection.

The summit supports Sustainable Development Goals—especially SDG 14 (Life Below Water), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Summit Objectives

  • Enhance youth knowledge and awareness on marine life conservation, ocean sustainability, and climate-related threats through expert-led sessions.
  • Develop leadership, advocacy, and policy-engagement skills for effective stewardship in communities and institutions.
  • Promote youth-led action and innovation through workshops producing initiatives and commitments for marine conservation.
  • Strengthen collaboration among youth organizations, schools, government agencies, and environmental advocates nationwide.
  • Instill environmental ethics and long-term commitment to marine biodiversity protection and sustainable resource use.
  • Highlight indigenous knowledge and local languages (BUSO) for inclusive, culturally grounded environmental advocacy.
